Year 10 pupils from Salvatorian College, which is based in Harrow, visited iQQTV yesterday as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2024. Aged between 14 and 15 the students and their teachers took part in a 30-minute careers presentation delivered by Daljit Bains, iQQTV’s Director of Business Development. The engaging presentation highlighted the advantages of an apprenticeship compared to other career routes, and how to successfully secure an apprenticeship.
A hands-on tasty taster session followed the presentation, as the Salvatorian students filled chouquettes with chocolate sauce to create profiteroles. The chouquettes, which are made of choux pastry, were baked earlier in the day by our hospitality and catering students, who were also on hand to help supervise the taster event and answer questions.
The taster session began with iQQTV’s pastry chef teacher Yvan Cahour and TASTE Restaurant manager Sylvain Auger explaining the importance of strict adherence to food safety and hygiene. While many of the delicious profiteroles were eaten during the taster event, there were plenty left over for the students to take home too.
Teachers from Salvatorian College praised the depth of knowledge they had gained regarding apprenticeships during their visit, and their students particularly enjoyed the taster session. The Year 10s agreed they are much more likely to seek apprenticeships in the future, and some are planning to become apprentice chefs.
Schools can book to attend future taster days by contacting iQQTV’s Schools Liasion and Events Officer.
