This course is designed for learners who have already completed a Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance qualification (post-16 years of age), or with GCSE grade D in Maths and English Language. You will also have an opportunity to improve your GCSE grades or gain Functional Skills qualifications. The course contents includes:
- Health & Safety Practices in Vehicle Maintenance
- Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance
- Removing & Replacing Light Vehicle Engine components
- Removing & Replacing Light Vehicle Chassis components
- Removing & Replacing Driveline units & components
Assessment of the knowledge associated with this qualification varies and includes verbal questioning, observed tasks, written coursework and online tests.
You will need:
- a Motor Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 qualification - completed post-16 years of age
- two GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) above in English and maths or Functional Skills Level 1 or above in English and maths
- to attend a College interview to make sure the course is right for you
- attendance from your previous college course must equal or exceed 90% (actual attendance)
Assessment of the knowledge associated with this qualification varies and includes verbal questioning, observed tasks, written coursework and online tests.
Students may progress onto a Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification or a Level 2 Apprenticeship (subject to meeting the entry criteria and requirements related to the apprenticeship course).
Learning takes place at Southall Campus within our Motor Vehicle Workshops, classrooms and IT suites.
If you will be aged 16 to 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your studies and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be free.
